Active faults study in nation wide area

Earth Observatory of Singapore
(Nanyang Technological University)

Necessity of active faults distribution study for earthquake preparation in Myanmar. Difficulty of aerial photo shooting for the whole study area due to cost limitation. Thanks to its global coverage, AW3D is applied for the study.
OS studies the slip behavior of the central stretch of Sagaing fault utilizing AW3D. The study helps EOS determine the detailed study locations for the earthquake history study.

The overview of the new active fault near Mandalay. White and yellow triangles are the offset measurements along this 100-km-long fault section.
(b)
Detailed fault geometry at the western flank of the Sagaing Hills, showing a series of right-stepping faults mapped from the 5m DSM.
(c)
